Why do I need a compounded medication for my pet?

Most medications used for animals are also used for humans, and drug companies recognize that it is more cost effective to produce medications for humans than for animals. There are many more options for treatments with human drugs than for animal drugs.

Why can’t I just give the human “pill” form to my pet?
