Fridays, Jan. 15 through Feb. 19, 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Gentog, 11535 S.W. Durham Road, Suite C5, Tigard (in the Willowbrook Center at Highway 99W). An educational program to help family caregivers (no professional caregivers, please). Learn how to take care of yourself while caring for a relative or friend. Taught by two parish nurses, the class was developed by Legacy Caregiver Services in Portland and has been shown to reduce caregiver guilt, anger and depression; improve caregiver self-care and communication skills, and increase community service use. It does not focus on specific diseases or hands-on caregiving for the care receiver. Registration is required. There is no fee; a donation to cover the cost of your book is appreciated.
